Texas Children's Hospital Spring Break Houston 2004
The
Houston Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Phi, together with Texas Children's
Hospital, sponsored the second annual Spring Break project in March
2004. This innovative internship program allowed four Alpha
Phi's with aspirations of becoming medical professionals to spend a
week shadowing the doctors and nurses at Texas Childrens'
Hospital.
This year's participants represented Arizona, Duquesne, Nebraska, and
Cornell and were a fantastic and energetic group!

Susan, Leigh-Anne, Shaundra, and Lauren
In addition to their busy days at the hospital, the girls enjoyed
evening activities around the city of Houston, including a picnic and
tour of Alpha Phi Shelley Canada Jenning's lovely garden, a visit to
the Rodeo, happy hour with the Ivy Circle at Brian O'Neill's, and a
farewell dinner at Berry Hill Tamale Company. Thank you to Linda Ray and everyone else
who helped make the week such a success!
The
first annual Spring Break Houston was held in March 2003. The
chosen Alpha Phi interns, representing University of Western Ontario,
Elmhurst College, University of North Texas, and University of
California at Santa Barbara, had a great learning experience working
alongside TCH doctors. 2003's
foursome were fantastic. It makes you proud to be a sister in
Alpha Phi.
If
you are interested in helping plan next year's program or if you know
an Alpha Phi collegian interested in applying for Spring Break Houston
2005, contact VP Collegians/SBH Linda Ray.
